From the Seekonk Star:
After months of planning, years of complaints from north end residents and multiple hearings before the board of selectmen, abutting property owners and even a town meeting, renovations to the Richard C. Banna Fire Station will appear on a special ballot before voters on Aug. 31.
This date was approved by the selectmen at a meeting last Wednesday and falls about two weeks before the deadline of Sept. 16, which is 90 days from when residents at a June town meeting approved the issue for a ballot. As was the case in April, Seekonk High School will serve as the sole polling place for the debt exclusion, which will ask residents if they approve of spending up to $750,000 in repairs and renovations to the Banna Fire Station on Pine Street.
