We just visited Cleveland and were surprised by a program in place in their Tower City Place Mall. Called 'Parental Involvement Program' - it places strict control over when youth (under age 18) may be in the mall unaccompanied.

In summary it is:

Parental Involvement Program:

The Youth Escort Policy would be in effect between the hours of 2:30 p.m. and closing seven days a week. After 2:30 p.m., anyone under the age of 18 visiting the center must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. One parent or legal guardian is permitted to...

It was announced Thursday afternoon that computer hackers had obtained 160 megabytes of e-mails from the Climate Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia (UEA) in England. Those e-mails involved communication among many scientific researchers and policy advocates with similar ideological positions all across the world. Those purported authorities were brazenly discussing the destruction and hiding of data that did not support global-warming claims.

Maybe we can find an exception for George Washington, but I cannot think of any time that I have ever heard school children singing praises to an American President in a Public School, or at any other time for that matter.

When I expressed my concern about my child participating in the President's speech to the children, this type of activity is exactly what I was afraid of.

I don't now where the school is that the video was taken, nor do I know what class this was being taught in. However I can think of no context in which it is okay to teach any child to worship a politician....

With all the commercials which I guess are paid for by union dues, it was easier this year for me to remember what Labor Day is really about. And there was a time I did feel like being reminded about how far we have come. Now I think greed and power has slowly crept in and is accelerating as I post.

This is not greed by the average union member. I am talking greed and power by the leadership. Maybe I am overreacting. You tell me.

On NPR's Weekend edition Sunday, Liane Hansen interviews Secretary-Treasurer of the AFL-CIO Richard Trumka. This is another organization...

I was just reading the most recent post at the yahoo seekonktalk group. According to our conservative "informant" the radical right is absolutely convinced that this administration is taking steps to limit freedom of speech, starting with talk radio.

True or not, I can't see why the liberals would want to stifle the likes of beck, limbaugh, savage etc. Those guys were so effective FOR THE DEMOCRATS they now control the executive AND legislative branch.

2008 Stella Awards

For those unfamiliar with these awards, they are named after 81-year-old Stella Liebeck who spilled hot coffee on herself and successfully sued the McDonald’s in New Mexico where she purchased the coffee. You remember, she took the lid off the coffee and put it between her knees while she was driving. Who would ever think one could get burned doing that, right? That’s right; these are awards...

At this point I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Here is a taste of yesterdays White House press conference:

Q: Is there anything you can say to make the birthers go away?

Gibbs: No. (laughter) I mean, the God's honest truth is no. I mean, Bill, let's understand this-and I almost hate to indulge in such an august setting as the White House-......
But right now I gotta make a beer run!!

The last line is my words. But I think most contributors get the point.
